Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a comptroller to lead financial reporting and accounting operations across multiple divisions and grants. You will ensure GAAP compliance, oversee budgeting, and support audits while coordinating with program leadership and grant administration.

Responsibilities include cash flow management, AP/AR oversight, and maintaining strong internal controls. A nonprofit background with grant experience and supervisory skills is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
• CPA, CMA or Master’s degree preferred but not required.
• 3 - 5 years accounting experience preferably in a nonprofit environment with multi-source grants.
• Experience working with city, county, state or federal funding streams strongly preferred.
• Supervisory experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivables or accounting roles is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cash flow management and debt management for the organization.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Develop financial strategies, reporting systems, and grant tracking.
• Lead AP/AR oversight, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries and monthly financials.
• Maintain internal controls and compliance with policies and grant requirements.
• Coordinate budgeting with the Director of Finance and program leadership.
• Support audits and variance explanations; assist with grant reporting and compliance.
