Job summary

Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona (CCS) is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Management Team. The CFO will provide financial leadership to strengthen sustainability, support informed decision‑making, and position CCS for growth across southern Arizona.

The role oversees all finance functions, including accounting, GAAP reporting, budgeting, FP&A, internal controls, and compliance with government contracts, grants, and Medicaid billing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• 12-15+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally starting in public accounting audit.
• Experience leading finance in a complex nonprofit with a $15M+ budget and multiple funding sources (government contracts, grants, Medicaid).
• Deep knowledge of fund accounting and GAAP for nonprofits (ASC 958).
• Experience with Form 990 and 501(c)(3) tax matters.
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and Executive Management Team with data-driven analysis and recommendations.
• Lead all Finance functions including accounting, GAAP reporting, budgeting/forecasting, FP&A, and internal controls.
• Oversee government contract compliance, grant accounting, Medicaid billing, and revenue cycle management.
• Manage cash, liquidity, investments, banking relationships, and provide regular reporting to the CEO and Finance Committee.
• Direct monthly close, financial statements, and variance analysis with management commentary.
• Lead annual budget process with program directors and ongoing KPI reporting.
• Coordinate annual audit, Form 990, and compliance reporting.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing Finance team.
• Represent CCS to financial institutions, auditors, funders, government partners, and external stakeholders.
