Job summary

CFS in Baltimore, MD is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead finance and operations during a transformational period. You will guide the transition from fiscal sponsorship to independent operations and oversee a $13M multi-entity budget.

You will manage a small team, report to the leadership and Board, and partner on strategic growth while benefiting from a flexible hybrid work model and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required with nonprofit exposure.
• CPA preferred; experience building finance departments and internal controls.
• Proven track record in multi-entity nonprofit accounting and audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead transition from fiscal sponsorship to independent operations.
• Build and improve financial systems, controls, policies, and reporting.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash management, reporting and audits.
• Manage federal grants, compliance, and federal audit requirements.
• Support Board reporting and Finance Committee presentations.
• Partner with exec leadership on strategic planning and growth.
• Mentor and develop the finance team.
