Job summary

Safe Alliance in Charlotte, NC seeks a Chief Finance Officer to lead the finance operations, manage the internal finance team and outsourced service provider, and optimize day-to-day financial processes.

The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, grants management, audits, and financial policies to support strategic objectives and compliant operations. Reports to the President & CEO; anticipated start October 1, 2026.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience managing / leading budgeting and the finance function in nonprofits receiving substantial government and foundation grants funding.
• Thorough, current knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and strong skills with accounting systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual budget to align resources with priorities and strategic objectives.
• Lead the agency audit and single audit processes with external vendors.
• Manage the capital budget and forecast processes, coordinating with leadership and the Finance Committee.
• Develop longer-term forecasting and monitor factors affecting budgets.
• Ensure compliance with grants and tax requirements, and maintain licenses/regulations.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance

CPA preferred or Master's Degree in Public Administration/Business
