Job summary

The Town of Sherborn, MA is seeking an experienced Treasurer/Collector to lead the municipal treasury, oversee collection, investment, and accounting of funds, and ensure compliance with Massachusetts law.

The ideal candidate will hold a finance or accounting degree with municipal finance experience and must obtain Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association certification within three years of hire. Anticipated hiring range is $95,000 to $118,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field and 3–5 years of experience in finance or a related field.
• Municipal setting preferred; certification from the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association required within 3 years of hire.
• Thorough knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws and regulations governing municipal finance, taxation, revenue collection, cash management, investments and debt administration.
• Knowledge of fiduciary standards, internal controls and audit requirements.
• Must be eligible to obtain a performance bond.

Responsibilities

• Perform statutory duties for collection, custody, investment, and accounting of municipal funds.
• Direct and oversee treasury operations including receipts, disbursement, recording, reconciliation and reporting of revenues.
• Manage cash, borrowing, and trust administration; supervise treasury and collection staff.
• Serve as Trustee of the Town’s OPEB Trust Fund.
