Job summary

Blackwood Solutions, based in Bloomington, IN, seeks a Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance of company vehicles and equipment across several states. You will manage technicians, coordinate schedules with vendors, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance, while reporting to leadership.

The role is in-office at our Bloomington location with occasional travel to other sites; you will drive maintenance excellence and cost control across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing fleet, equipment, or industrial maintenance operations.
• Experience supervising a team of technicians or maintenance staff.
• Experience coordinating work across multiple locations or states.
• Working knowledge of fleet maintenance practices, equipment upkeep, and DOT/safety compliance.
• Strong organizational and coordinating skills; ability to juggle multiple sites, vendors, and priorities.
• Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency with maintenance tracking software or fleet management systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to other state locations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, repair, and servicing of company fleet vehicles and equipment across multiple states.
• Manage, schedule, and support a team of maintenance technicians, including hiring and performance management.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
• Serve as the central point between field locations, vendors, and internal teams to keep work on schedule.
• Track maintenance history, service records, and inspection compliance for all assets.
• Source, negotiate with, and manage relationships with outside repair vendors and suppliers.
• Monitor and manage maintenance budget including parts, labor, and outside services.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment meet safety, DOT, and regulatory requirements.
• Plan and coordinate travel logistics for technicians or equipment moves between states.
• Report on fleet and equipment condition, maintenance costs, and team performance to leadership.
• Respond to urgent repair or breakdown situations and coordinate timely resolution across locations.
