Job summary

The City of Fairfax seeks an innovative Multimodal Transportation Planner to implement and monitor the City’s multimodal program, including bicycle, pedestrian, transit, and scooter initiatives. You will work closely with the Transportation Director, City departments, and regional groups to advance mobility, safety, and accessibility.

Responsibilities include long‑ and short‑range planning, project development, and public engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field with 5+ years of applicable work experience.
• Virginia knowledge preferred; valid driver’s license required.
• Master’s degree in related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor multimodal transportation programs.
• Coordinate with City departments and regional groups.
• Lead neighborhood transportation programs and policy development.
• Present to City Council and assist with funding applications.
• Oversee bike/pedestrian and transit planning.
