Job summary

Sapphire Technologies is seeking a hands-on Materials Planner & Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory and disciplined material flow across receiving, warehousing, production, outside processing, and shipping.

This role supports ERP/MRP transactions, cycle counts, and traceability as the company moves toward configure-to-order manufacturing; you will collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Finance, suppliers, and logistics providers.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent; relevant supply chain education/certification preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing supply chain experience across inventory control, warehousing, receiving, shipping, logistics, production planning, purchasing, and ERP/MRP systems.
• Hands-on experience with cycle counting, physical inventory, reconciliation, receiving, shipping, kitting, WIP transactions, and material traceability.
• Experience planning and purchasing materials in an ERP/MRP environment, including PO management, expediting, shortage resolution, and maintaining accurate planning data.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate forklifts and obtain forklift certification.
• Experience in discrete manufacturing involving mechanical/electrical/electromechanical products.
• Ability to read engineering documents for part identification, material verification, and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain day-to-day inventory control, item/location accuracy, material identification, and discrepancy resolution.
• Plan and execute cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate variances and support corrective actions.
• Maintain material traceability through receiving, storage, kitting, WIP, outside processing, assembly, test, and shipping.
• Execute ERP material transactions: receipts, issues, transfers, returns, completions, adjustments, and WIP movements.
• Coordinate receiving, inspection handoffs, warehousing, material staging, kitting, and storage in support of production priorities.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipping, inbound/outbound logistics, packaging, carrier scheduling, documentation, custody, and delivery follow-up.
• Support import/export and trade compliance documentation; elevate questions to appropriate resources.
• Maintain item master, planning, purchasing, supplier, lead time, and inventory control data in ERP.
• Plan material requirements and production orders using demand, BOMs, inventory, lead times, capacity, and scheduling info.
• Create and monitor purchase orders; obtain quotations, confirm commitments, expedite shortages, and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify material shortages and schedule risks; coordinate recovery with Production, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, and suppliers.
• Support barcode labeling, location identification, scanning, status controls, and transaction standards for inventory and WIP traceability.
• Coordinate large-scale inventory transfers between internal locations, offsite storage, suppliers, or partners; manage labeling, location mapping, custody, reconciliation, and restart support.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, records, metrics, and standard work for inventory, warehousing, and logistics; identify process improvements.
