Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with an established manufacturing company to hire an experienced Materials Planner. The role requires collaborating with production, purchasing, warehouse, and engineering to ensure smooth material flow.

You will develop production schedules, monitor progress, and use ERP/MRP data to detect shortages and risks while coordinating with suppliers. Supervision of a Planning Coordinator is included.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in materials planning or related manufacturing roles.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience developing and managing production schedules.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management.
  • Strong Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities across departments.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand, capacity, and material availability.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as priorities or resources change.
  • Use ERP/MRP data to identify material requirements, shortages, and risks.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities and follow up with suppliers on pricing, lead times, and late orders.
  • Maintain inventory parameters including lead times, safety stock, reorder points, and quantities.
  • Work with production and warehouse to resolve material or scheduling issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address delivery or quality concerns.
  • Analyze inventory, planning, and purchasing data to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Supervise and direct a Purchasing & Planning Coordinator.
  • Communicate changes in priorities and risks across departments.

Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with an established manufacturing company to hire an experienced Materials Planner.

This position is a strong fit for someone who likes to stay close to the operation. You'll work directly with production, purchasing, warehouse, engineering, suppliers, and other internal teams to identify issues, adjust priorities, and keep materials and production moving.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, inventory, and material availability.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules when priorities, staffing, equipment, or material availability change.
  • Use ERP/MRP data to identify material requirements, shortages, and potential supply risks.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities and follow up with suppliers on pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and past-due orders.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory and planning parameters, including lead times, safety stock, reorder points, and order quantities.
  • Work directly with production and warehouse teams to resolve material, inventory, and scheduling issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address delivery or quality concerns that could affect production.
  • Analyze inventory, planning, and purchasing data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, cost savings, and material availability.
  • Supervise and provide day-to-day direction to a Purchasing & Planning Coordinator.
  • Communicate changing priorities, shortages, and production risks across departments.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in materials planning, production planning, purchasing, supply chain, or a similar manufacturing role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience developing and managing production schedules.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management.
  • Strong Excel, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively across departments.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.

We're looking for someone who is hands-on, collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a smaller manufacturing environment. You'll need to be willing to get out into the production area, communicate directly with the people involved, work through problems, and adjust your approach when business needs change.
