Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Pittsburgh seeks an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage direct materials using Oracle MRP data, negotiate pricing, and drive cost savings. You will coordinate with QA, Eng, and suppliers, ensure SOX compliance, and maintain accurate ERP records while supporting multiple Coherent divisions.

The role requires a bachelor's in supply chain, strong negotiation, communication, and ERP skills, with occasional travel to supplier sites and cross- BU collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor's degree in supply chain management or an equivalent degree.
• Excellent negotiating skills.
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills to achieve a high level of productivity.
• Strong communication skills with internal customers and external suppliers.
• Advanced computer skills that include Microsoft Office Suite products.
• Experience with manufacturing ERP systems.
• Experience with quality systems including ISO 9001.
• Ability to read and understand drawing specifications.
• Experience in Supplier Development, Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier negotiations.
• Adherence to policies and develop best practices to achieve efficiency and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

• Purchase direct materials based on Oracle MRP data, including quotes, pricing, PO entry, expediting and returns.
• Place purchase orders timely and accurately.
• Achieve 10% of total budgeted cost savings across the Coherent Optical Solutions BU.
• Negotiate best pricing and explore alternate sources to save costs.
• Collaborate with quality and engineering to identify new sources and qualification processes.
• Obtain internal approvals to SOX requirements and update ERP with PO confirmations.
• Determine purchase quantities based on history, inventory, price breaks and lead times.
• Process returns for rejected material via SCARs and secure corrective action.
• Coordinate supplier visits for pricing reviews and lead-time trends; visit suppliers.
• Provide purchasing support for materials, services, and capital equipment.
• Ensure ISO 9001 procedures and trade import compliance.
