Job summary

SGS Consulting in Austin, TX is seeking a Material Planner to optimize MRP planning and ensure timely availability of materials for production. You will coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to keep the daily production schedule aligned with demand.

The role requires strong Excel skills, experience with SAP and ERP, and a disciplined approach to managing inventory, safety stock, and lead times. This position offers growing responsibility in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with MRP, ERP/SAP, production scheduling, and inventory management.
• Experience working with SAP desirable.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Technical/ analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Solid background in materials management / methodology.
• Ability to think on your feet, resolve conflicts, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily MRP exception messages.
• Manage flow of material between supplier and plant.
• Ensure materials are available for production.
• Meet inventory targets.
• Expedite purchase orders with suppliers.
• Address shortages by prioritizing suppliers.
• Review vendor forecasts monthly.
• Review open order reports with suppliers.
• Update SAP purchase order due dates.
• Adjust MRP parameters (safety stock, min lot sizes, rounding values, etc.).
• Review replenishment strategies (Kanban, ROP, MRP) quarterly.
• Liaise with MPS Planners and Production Scheduler.
• Follow up to SAP Planning order exceptions.
• Finished Good Production Scheduling.
• Publish Daily Production Plan.
• Follow up of Production orders status and barriers.
• Review material issues with kitting.
• Convert planned orders to production orders.
• Check release simulations for missing parts; ETA requests.
• Release orders and prepare them to production, separate by assemblies.
• Production Schedule Attainment.
• Review if orders are converted in SAP; start converting planned orders to production orders.
• Create missing parts file and request to Upstream team the estimate arrival time.
