Job summary

We have a great opportunity for a Material Planner to join our Thermo King facility in Hastings, Nebraska. You will plan and schedule the delivery of materials from suppliers, monitor flow of items, and manage inventory to meet customer service targets.

Responsibilities include procurement, supplier onboarding, ABC classification, safety stock, and Kanban planning. Requires 2+ years in planning, ERP experience, and APICS CPIM preferred. Salary range listed, benefits described in the posting.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree preferred; experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 2+ years of planner/buyer manufacturing experience preferred.
• APICS CPIM or equivalent certification preferred.
• ERP experience preferred.
• Experience with rate-based or flow-line environments preferred.
• Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes preferred.
• Experience with visual management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely, cost-conscious procurement of production, inventory, and MRO items.
• Receive and analyze requisitions to determine quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements.
• Recommend and select suppliers from the approved list to fulfill plant deliveries.
• Support onboarding of newly selected suppliers for material planning.
• Maintain ABC classification for planning and PFEP inputs.
• Ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve supplier quality issues.
• Identify and manage shortages and root causes.
• Identify total cost and cash flow opportunities with suppliers.
• Analyze and select parts for Kanban and supplier replenishment.
• Lead and direct others to accomplish objectives.
• Expedite deliveries to meet critical schedule requirements.
• Maintain material plan within the time fence.
• Coordinate with production planners on delivery solutions.
• Evaluate supplier performance and escalation issues.
• Resolve invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and Accounting.
• Analyze material and capacity to provide customer promise dates.
• Maintain item master lead-time information.
