Job summary

AFC Industries is seeking a Material Planner / Buyer to support inventory control, material planning, and purchasing activities at our Houston facility. This role will focus on maintaining accurate ERP data, analyzing system-generated demand, and ensuring material availability to support manufacturing and distribution operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory control, purchasing, or manufacturing operations.
• Experience with ERP systems, inventory transactions, and material requirements planning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system-generated demand and maintain inventory min/max levels to support manufacturing and distribution requirements.
• Perform routine cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
• Monitor and validate system backflush transactions for accurate material consumption.
• Review BOM accuracy and identify discrepancies between expected and actual material usage.
• Evaluate planning parameters, demand inputs, and replenishment settings to improve purchasing recommendations.
• Identify excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate inventory, purchasing, and material planning data within the ERP system.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, receiving, and distribution teams to resolve material discrepancies and prevent production interruptions.
• Follow up on outstanding purchase orders and address material shortages or delivery concerns.
