Job summary

The California Academy of Sciences seeks a Leadership Gifts Officer to provide strategic leadership in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors who support major gifts of 25,000 and above. The role advances the Leadership Philanthropy team’s goal of 11 million in annual support, reporting to the Associate Director of Leadership Philanthropy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising.
• Demonstrated track record in major and/or planned gifts fundraising.
• Experience in donor relations, special events, and moves management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage an existing portfolio and grow it to 100+ donors and prospects and help donors achieve philanthropic goals.
• Develop and execute a strategic plan for cultivating donors with $25,000+ annual giving.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward major gift prospects.
• Prioritize meetings with prospects and coordinate staff and volunteers for solicitation.
• Cultivate prospects through events, tours, visits, and engagement opportunities; follow up with volunteers and staff.
