Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in Maine seeks an Associate Director of Development to lead donor engagement and solicit major gifts. You will manage a portfolio of qualified donors, craft compelling proposals, and collaborate across chapters to advance conservation priorities.

Based in Brunswick with a hybrid schedule, you’ll travel as needed and motivate teams with stories that connect donors to our mission. The role requires strategic fundraising, strong writing, and a track record of securing gifts

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or an equivalent combination.
Experience building and maintaining long‑term relationships with fundraising constituents.
Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $50,000 or more.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of 80–120 donors, including donors with capacity to give over $250,000, with annual fundraising goal of $1,000,000+.
Meet discovery‑based metrics and quarterly outreach goals.
Complete 60–100 visits and 180–300 moves annually.
Work with the development team and trustees to determine effective donor engagement strategies.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and donor/legal/IRS requirements.
