Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a Philanthropy Director to lead major and principal gift strategies in support of the medical center’s priorities. The role involves cultivating a robust donor pipeline, managing senior relationships, and partnering with leadership to meet fundraising goals.

The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of 125 major gift prospects, coordinate with the Vice President of Philanthropy, and shape messages for major proposals and solicitations to advance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• More than 10 years of related work experience in development.
• Solid volunteer management experience; demonstrated ability to engage volunteers.
• Ability to travel, occasional evening and weekend work, and adjust to department needs.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

• Lead strategist for comprehensive major and principal gift strategy and fundraising priorities.
• Advance major gift program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts $25,000+.
• Develop and implement strategies to engage a wide range of prospects to meet funding goals.
• Maintain high-quality relationships with chairs, division chiefs, senior physicians/researchers, and staff.
• Prepare major proposals, solicitation letters, and materials for major prospects and donors; ensure consistent messaging.
• Build and manage a portfolio of 125 major gift prospects and donors.
• Collaborate on strategic planning with VP of Philanthropy and senior volunteers.
• Direct daily work activities and manage 2–3 direct reports.
