Job summary

The Chanler in Newport, RI seeks a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial functions in a luxury boutique hotel environment. You will partner with the General Manager, ownership, and department heads to safeguard assets, optimize profitability, and maintain guest service excellence.

Responsibilities include full-cycle accounting, monthly closings, forecasting, budgeting, payroll oversight, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience with 2+ years in supervisory roles.
• Hospitality experience in luxury settings, hotel accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, AR, AP, and cash flow management.
• Monitor daily financial activity and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures to protect assets.
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, and vendor/contracts management.
