Job summary

The Chanler at Cliff Walk, Newport, RI, seeks a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial functions while partnering with the General Manager, ownership, and department heads. This boutique luxury hotel demands discretion, precision, and proactive financial leadership to safeguard assets and support guest excellence.

You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, payroll, vendor relationships, and compliance, ensuring strong internal controls and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory, management, or independent financial role.
• Hospitality experience strongly preferred, particularly within a luxury boutique hotel or upscale environment.
• Experience with hotel accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end closing, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash-flow management.
• Monitor daily financial activity and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures to protect company assets.
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to leadership.
