Salem Public Library is seeking a Library Volunteer Services Coordinator to lead and manage the volunteer engagement program, aligning with library services, outreach, events, and strategic initiatives.

The role includes recruiting, screening, training, and recognizing volunteers, while partnering with library leadership to refine workflows and ensure compliant operations. Strong DEI focus and data-driven decision making are essential.

Qualifications

• Must pass the pre-employment background check and may require a drug test.
• Must have an Oregon Driver’s license and meet City driving standards.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Design, launch, and manage a systemwide volunteer services program for the Library.
• Recruit, screen, interview, and place volunteers with defined role descriptions.
• Coordinate operations across library divisions to support volunteer involvement.
• Ensure assignments align with staff work and union agreements.
• Develop and deliver orientation and training for volunteers and staff.
• Manage volunteer performance, including coaching and evaluations.
• Maintain records, schedules, hours, and reports in data systems.
• Plan and execute volunteer-supported events and outreach activities.
• Create training resources, communications, and promotional tools.
• Apply DEI principles to recruitment, training, outreach, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and city policies.
