Job summary

The UCLA Library seeks a collaborative leader to serve as unit head for the Teaching and Learning Services department. The director will oversee programs including information literacy instruction, core research assistance services, instructional design and assessment, and student engagement.

The successful candidate will mentor about 18 librarians and staff, develop scalable services, and partner across campus to advance inclusive pedagogy, AI literacy, and access to resources.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library or Information Science required.
• Supervisory experience in an academic library setting.
• Experience leading public services in an academic library.
• Experience with program assessment.
• Training or experience teaching and pedagogy.
• Experience managing library budgets.
• Understanding of AI and online learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead service strategy for Teaching and Learning Services, including information literacy and research help services.
• Collaborate with Library colleagues to align teaching and learning services with campus departments.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with campus partners.
• Oversee unit budgets per UCLA Library Fund Manager expectations.
• Oversee recruitment, coaching, and performance management of ~18 librarians and staff.
• Collaborate on space-related upgrades to support services and programming priorities.
• Collaborate on collections to support teaching and research needs.
• Ensure staffing models align with library goals and priorities.
• Serve on Library Management Council.
• Work with Library Development to identify donors and endowed gifts.
