Job summary

Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking an Assistant Director for Special Education and Pupil Services to provide strategic leadership and oversight of programs in Pittsburgh. You will lead major initiatives, ensure program quality, and guide data-driven decisions to advance services for students with disabilities.

The role requires a Master's degree in a relevant field, applicable certifications (Special Education Supervisor, School Psychologist, or Principal), and at least 5 years of leadership

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Special Education, Pupil Services, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or related field.
• Special Education Supervisor, School Psychologist, or Principal certification required.
• Superintendent's LOE preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible educational leadership experience.
• Significant experience in special education or pupil services.
• Program administration and supervision experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Special Education and Pupil Services programs.
• Lead and coordinate special projects and operational initiatives (Extended School Year, crisis management, safety planning, admin support).
• Support program development by identifying service opportunities and data analysis.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, AIU regulations, policies, and reporting through oversight, budgeting, and monitoring.
• Supervise, mentor, evaluate program leadership and staff; support professional development.
• Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with districts, families, community agencies, and stakeholders.
• Represent the division on internal and external committees and promote collaboration across programs.
