Job summary

GSK is seeking an Associate Director (Scientific Data and Publications) within the Research Operations & Externalization (ROX) organization. This role manages the enterprise portfolio of external content and data licenses, budgets and vendor terms to ensure compliant, value-driven access for scientists.

You will partner with licensing, copyright, and technology teams to shape strategy and enable AI-enabled insights across R&D.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree-level education (eg; Life, physical or information sciences or related discipline).
• Relevant experience / knowledge in information management, scientific content or published information services in the pharmaceutical industry or a comparable scientific research environment.
• Experience managing vendor relationships (contributing to licensing, contract or commercial negotiations).
• Proficiency with a range of digital tools (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams) and experience leveraging AI or digital technologies to improve efficiency or insights.
• Working knowledge of copyright and licensing governance, and an understanding of text mining, analytics and content usage (specifically relating to use rights and terms of contracts).
• Experience owning an enterprise content or data license portfolio, including budget accountability and supplier performance management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain GSK R&D’s enterprise portfolio of external scientific content and data licenses.
• Manage portfolio budget, forecasting and cost controls.
• Retire under-used sources to keep portfolio focused on high-value content.
• Negotiate terms with vendors to ensure licensed content is accessible and compliant.
• Collaborate with licensing, copyright and information specialists to deliver service, governance and support.
• Contribute to the future-state operating model for scientific publications and external data.
• Position the portfolio to be AI-ready and aligned with evolving AI use cases across R&D.
