Job summary

Sam Houston State University seeks an Associate Director IV for the Alternative Certification Program. This full-time, temporary role oversees program operations, ensures compliance with Texas Education Agency and SBOE rules, and manages admissions, budgeting, and reporting while mentoring staff within the School of Teaching & Learning.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), Texas teacher certification, and extensive leadership experience in Texas public schools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Current Texas Teacher Certification required.
• Six years’ experience in a related field with five or more years of leadership experience in Texas public schools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the Alternative Certification Program for SHSU.
• Ensure compliance with TEA and SBOE rules for initial teacher certification.
• Communicate admission requirements and program expectations to prospective students.
• Review, admit, and process admissions decisions to the program.
• Develop and administer district and campus budgets based on program needs and enrollment.
• Compile, maintain, and file reports and required documents, including attendance for required reports.
• Lead mentoring and coaching activities with Assistant Clinical Professors of Mentoring and Practice.
• Conduct monthly meetings with mentoring staff and articulate SHSU’s mission to the community.
