Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide thelearning activities and support that will lead to the achievementof the course objectives and contribute to the educationalenvironment of the college and the community. Primaryresponsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within thecurriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Teaches courses as designated by the ATCP Director in the Alternative Teacher Certification program; courses include, but arenot limited to, Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility,Generalist Teacher Preparation, Special Education, and CreatingSuccessful Classrooms, Content Review courses
2. Submits required college reports and forms
3. Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, followingestablished institutional guidelines
4. Provides timely, quality access to students by appointment,electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
5. Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing andutilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and deliverymethods, including collaborative learning, learning communities,service learning, instructional technology, and onlinelearning
6. Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure theirprogress in achieving course objectives, compliance in fieldexperience and inform them in a timely manner of theirprogress
7. Attends in-service meetings and trainings with students and ISDpartners
8. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues,ISD partners and the community
9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties asassigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typicaly, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

• Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other generaloffice equipment
• Travel to ISD partner schools as needed to carry out thefunctions of the position
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed tocarry out the functions of the position
• Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
• Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors arerequired to meet with classes at all scheduled times and beavailable to students outside of class instruction

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in education or related field and at least 3years of recent, documented experience in K-12 classroomteaching
• Active Texas Teacher Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) AppraiserCertification

Salary

$56.55 per contact hour.
