Job summary

Duke University is seeking an IT Sourcing Manager to lead long‑term planning, strategy development, and continuous improvement for IT spend categories at Duke University and Duke Health System.

You will manage RFI/RFP processes, negotiate complex licensing terms, oversee budgets, and build strong stakeholder relationships while guiding sourcing analysts and coordinating with legal, risk, security, and finance to ensure favorable terms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with five years of procurement experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience in IT spend categories (software, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, hardware, services).
• Ability to negotiate complex licensing models, pricing, SLAs, and maintenance terms.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in quantitative analysis.
• Experience leading teams, driving process improvements, and managing budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional sourcing activities for IT spend categories.
• Act as IT category manager to plan and execute spend reduction models.
• Analyze IT commodities and provide strategic recommendations.
• Oversee RFI/RFP processes and support stakeholders during solicitations.
• Negotiate licensing models, pricing, SLAs, and maintenance with vendors.
• Develop sourcing plans, benchmark suppliers, and drive value improvements.
• Analyze business processes for efficiency gains and cost reductions.
• Maintain knowledge of IT policies, hardware, software, and services.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to drive outcomes.
• Monitor supplier metrics and conduct project reviews.
• Collaborate with legal, risk, security, and finance for compliance and favorable terms.
• Supervise, hire, and conduct performance reviews for sourcing analysts.
• Survey customers and benchmark peer institutions for process improvements.
• Manage the budget for team activities.
