Job summary

Yale Cancer Center is seeking an Associate Strategic Sourcing & Category Manager who reports to the Sr. IT Strategic Sourcing Manager.

You will shape long‑term strategy, lead category management, and implement sourcing programs to achieve high quality, lower costs, and reduced risk for the University. The role requires influencing stakeholders, excellent oral and written communication, IT sourcing experience, and advanced MS Office skills; a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of purchasing experience

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of RFI/RFPs, negotiations, and contracting.
• Ability to partner with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver value.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Delivers cost savings and ensures contract compliance.
• Leads cross-functional sourcing across university.
• Leads category management and sourcing execution.
• Sets strategic spend plans and identifies key suppliers.
• Engages stakeholders to align requirements and objectives.
• Defines value and total cost of ownership for the category.
• Identifies value-generating opportunities within the category.
• Documents category strategy and playbooks.
• Defines pipeline of sourcing, supplier management, and demand activities.
• Evaluates contract terms to mitigate risks.
• Builds relationships with internal customers.
• Implements sourcing strategies to achieve savings goals.
• Promotes preferred suppliers and reduces supplier count.
• Conducts supplier management for key partners.
• Keeps abreast of market trends and insights.
