Job summary

City of Aspen, CO is seeking a transformative Chief Information Officer to align technology with the city’s strategic plan. You will lead cybersecurity, data, infrastructure, applications, and Aspen Community Broadband while steering the IT function toward a strategic, customer-focused partner across the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a people-focused leader, an excellent communicator, and a proven partner who can deliver technology solutions that advance city priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, public or business administration, or related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible enterprise technology experience, including at least three years leading staff, budgets, vendors, operations, and major technology initiatives.
• Experience establishing technology strategy or governance, improving service delivery, and leading organizational change.
• Experience with governmental budgeting, procurement, records, accessibility, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise leadership for cybersecurity, data, infrastructure, applications, Aspen Community Broadband, and audiovisual services.
• Lead implementation of the City’s technology roadmap and shift IT from support-focused to strategic partner.
• Partner with City Departments to strategically incorporate technology into organizational priorities.
• Cultivate a culture of trust, develop staff, and model a positive workplace.
