Job summary

City of Aurora is seeking a Chief Information Officer to lead the Information Technology Department, directing information systems policies and strategic plans. The CIO collaborates with top management to align IT initiatives with City objectives, manages staffing, and oversees hardware, networks, security, and budget to deliver cost-effective technology services for municipal operations.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, 7+ years in IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years in all phases of computer operations.
• Minimum of 10 years managing one or more major information processing functions and/or advanced management training.
• Municipal IT experience 3+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic IT plans aligned with City business plans.
• Collaborate with top management to address administrative needs with IT solutions.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate IT staffing and employee development.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, assign, and retain qualified staff.
• Plan hardware acquisitions and facilities for IT.
• Direct design, development, and maintenance of systems and software.
• Ensure system security and protect data assets.
• Oversee operation of City fiber network.
• Administer IT expense budget for cost-effective delivery.
• Review productivity and cost of service; seek improvements.
• Stay updated on new tech developments for future systems.
• Create, maintain, and enforce IT policies and procedures.
• Foster an inclusive, accountable, collaborative work environment.
• Other related duties as assigned.
