Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a Chief Information Officer in the Information Technology Department to lead the City’s information systems strategy and operations.

You will develop strategic IT plans, manage staff, security, networks, budget, and policies while collaborating with top management. Residency requirements and pre-hire screenings apply; this is a full-time executive role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in all phases of computer operations.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in managing major information processing functions.
• Municipal IT experience preferred (3+ years).

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic IT plans aligned with the City’s goals.
• Lead IT operations, security, and network design across departments.
• Manage IT staffing, recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
• Oversee hardware acquisitions and facilities for the IT Department.
• Direct the design, development, and maintenance of systems/networks and software.
• Oversee fiber network operations and IT budget administration.
• Promote inclusive, collaborative, service-oriented work environment.
