Job summary

The State of Nevada is seeking an IT Business Analyst to support enterprise-wide technology and business initiatives within the Secretary of State’s Operations Division. This full-time, in-person role can be based in Carson City or Las Vegas, NV, and focuses on advancing digital services, optimizing processes, and guiding cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include business process evaluation, project scoping, requirements development, governance support, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Apply recognized data processing concepts to business process plans and analyses.
• Document business and functional requirements for proposed projects.
• Review and document test results to assess the accuracy and completeness of application code.
• Monitor quality assurance and evaluate hardware/software needs.
• Analyze business processes, propose improvements, and identify automations.

Responsibilities

• Apply recognized data processing concepts to business process plans and analyses.
• Develop work and/or data flow diagrams that illustrate functional processes of the system.
• Document business and functional requirements for proposed projects.
• Review and document test results to assess accuracy and completeness of application code.
• Monitor quality assurance.
• Research and evaluate computer hardware and software needs.
• Analyze business processes, propose improvements, and identify work processes that may be automated.
• Define potential benefits of proposed systems or deficiencies to be corrected in the existing system.
• Define data definitions and relationships for systems development foundations.
• Develop bridging specifications for interacting program areas.
• Consult with programmers regarding technical requirements and deficiencies.
• Participate in resource allocation and expenditure decisions.
• Assist in procedure development and transition planning.
• Train individuals in system use and system software.
• Prepare documentation for the computer system manual.
