Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a senior-level attorney to lead IP licensing negotiations and complex commercial transactions in a global environment.

You will advise business stakeholders, draft and negotiate licenses, joint development agreements, and product qualification contracts, while ensuring regulatory compliance and mitigating business risk. This role reports to the Senior Director in Legal and Compliance.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• 10+ years of relevant legal experience focusing on IP licensing, joint development, and complex transactions.
• Deep understanding of technology/IP rights and contract terms; strong negotiation skill.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for a global business.
• Ability to identify compliance and regulatory implications of new businesses.
• Ability to work across organizational boundaries with diverse teams.
• Ability to travel occasionally.
• Licensed to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

• Provide business and legal advice to stakeholders.
• Frame, review, draft, and negotiate IP, commercial, and complex transactions (licensing, joint development, product qualification).
• Counsel business/sales on contract provisions and risk.
• Partner with other groups to deliver legal support.
• Manage outside counsel work product quality and budgets.
• Participate in process and technology projects to improve efficiency.
