Job summary

Thorlabs Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Planner/Inventory Control Associate in Rochester, NY. This role monitors inventory, coordinates with purchasing, and ensures production orders are initiated, tracked, and shipped on schedule to meet forecasted demand.

The position requires at least 2 years in manufacturing with inventory control experience, familiarity with D365 and RFSmart, and strong collaboration across departments. Occasional duties at other Thorlabs locations may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience with inventory control focus.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (D365) and RFSmart.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-department collaboration.
• Basic math and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review daily production schedule to initiate production to meet due dates.
• Prepare assembly trays for Assembly Technician.
• Track movement of parts between departments.
• Investigate and correct inventory discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure timely orders.
• Apply Manufacturing Planning Process and determine push/pull actions.
• Inspect orders before shipping.
• Execute transfers of product physically.
• Suggest process improvements to control purchases and inventories.
