Thorlabs, a leader in photonics components and systems, seeks a Machine Shop Purchaser Planner to coordinate production schedules and optimize machine shop capacity. You will analyze capacity, manage material procurement, and partner with engineering, quality, and procurement to meet delivery deadlines.

The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, ERP proficiency, and the ability to adapt schedules to demand changes while maintaining accurate production records.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in production planning or scheduling within a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP systems and BOMs preferred.
• Ability to analyze capacity, forecast needs, and adjust schedules accordingly.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to optimize workflow and meet delivery deadlines.
• Analyze machine shop capacity and workload to forecast production needs and adjust schedules as necessary.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely procurement of materials.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce lead times.
• Serve as primary liaison between machine shop and other departments and communicate schedule changes clearly.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, inventory, and shop activities.
• Address issues during production and develop contingency plans.
