Job summary

Intuitive is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, International Trade to help ensure global compliance with trade laws across export, import, sanctions, and investment regimes. The role sits within the Corporate and Compliance team of the Legal Department and collaborates with Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Finance to manage risk.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house.
• J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• Significant experience interpreting and applying U.S. and international regulations related to export controls, import restrictions, economic sanctions, and foreign investment regimes.
• Exceptional organizational skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong writing, presentation, and oral communication skills and executive presence.
• Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of cross-functional processes.
• Some travel will be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead counsel on U.S. and global trade regimes and issues, including export, import, and customs compliance activities.
• Support internal third-party management and due diligence relating to anti-corruption laws.
• Provide guidance on the trade compliance program to ensure adherence to global import/export laws.
• Monitor geopolitical developments and translate them into actionable guidance for business teams.
• Coordinate due diligence for equity investments and M&A to assess trade exposure and risk.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure coordinated responses to regulatory changes.
• Prepare and advise on trade compliance policies and train employees on requirements.
• Develop and deliver training for employees on global trade compliance requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and investigations and support audits to identify risks and remediation.
• Select and supervise outside counsel on trade-related projects.
