Job summary

CFS in South Bend, Indiana is seeking an Interim Controller to lead all accounting operations, partnering with executive leadership on strategy and controls. This hands-on role blends daily oversight with broader financial planning, process improvements, and stronger internal controls.

You will oversee month-, quarter-, and year-end closes, ensure GAAP compliance, and mentor accounting staff while strengthening reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA preferred but not required).
• 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Great Plains, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar).
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll review.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Partner with leadership on financial analysis, operational decisions, and process improvements.
• Oversee accounting systems and recommend efficiencies or upgrades.
