McKenzie Valve & Machining in McKenzie, Tennessee, is seeking a Buyer to lead end-to-end procurement for production materials and services. You will source, negotiate, and purchase items like valve components, castings, and plate to support production schedules.

The role requires 3–5 years of industrial purchasing experience, ERP proficiency, and strong negotiation and communication skills. On-site work five days a week with potential travel up to 15% to supplier sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of purchasing/procurement experience in an industrial environment.
• Experience with ERP-driven purchasing systems and purchasing processes.
• Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms.
• Ability to analyze material requirements and purchasing data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing-related computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement for production materials, maintenance supplies, consumables, office supplies, gases, and contracted services.
• Source, quote, negotiate, and purchase materials including castings, plate, bar stock, valve components, and related items.
• Forecast, source, schedule, expedite, and monitor material requirements to support production schedules.
• Negotiate supplier pricing, quality, delivery terms, service agreements, and maintenance contracts to minimize total cost.
• Build and maintain relationships with domestic and global suppliers to ensure reliable performance.
• Review bills of material, Kanban cards, requisitions, and purchasing requests for accuracy and authorization.
• Issue purchase orders, blanket orders, and contracts following purchasing policies.
• Process supplier claims related to defective materials and resolve vendor performance issues.
• Support Lean initiatives, Kanban, VMI, Consignment inventory programs, and other pull systems.
• Use ERP systems to manage purchasing activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
