Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Staffing & Compensation professional to join the Human Resources Department. This role supports recruitment, compensation studies, policy development, and onboarding, with a remote/hybrid work schedule.

Ideal candidates will have experience in a centralized government HR environment, strong research skills, and familiarity with Workday HCM/Recruitment. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or related certifications are strongly desired.

Qualifications

• Experience in a centralized HR department for a large organization.
• Experience with Workday HCM/Recruitment systems.
• Professional HR designation desired (e.g., SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP).

Responsibilities

• Research and respond to inquiries regarding policies and procedures and/or human resource actions.
• Interview and coach/counsel supervisors and employees regarding staffing and compensation policies and practices.
• Research market data to support policy recommendations.
• Review Workday transactions for policy and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with departments on recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
• Strategize for future staffing needs with assigned departments.
• Assist in compensation studies and leadership decision-making presentations.
• Review and revise classifications and reporting structures to align staffing with customer needs.
