Job summary

Erie County Medical Center Corporation is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner for the day shift to oversee labor and employee relations within HR administration.

The role involves handling grievances, investigations, arbitration support, coaching, succession planning, and collaboration with leaders to improve morale, productivity and retention. On-site position with a competitive salary range of $76,500 to $90,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field with one year of professional or paraprofessional experience in human resources, law, labor relations, organizational development, staff development, or diversity and inclusion.
• Bachelor's degree with three years of professional or paraprofessional experience in human resources, law, labor relations, organizational development, staff development, or diversity and inclusion.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
• Notes: professional experience as defined by NYS Civil Service; paraprofessional experience definitions also provided.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance in the resolution of employee grievances.
• Prepares files and witnesses for arbitrations and other hearings.
• Performs investigations and represents ECMCC for labor and employee relations matters including grievances, harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, and other matters.
• Confers with department representatives regarding contract language, ECMCC policies and procedures; advises on corrective action plans and disciplinary actions.
• Conducts weekly meetings with business units to address HR-related activities and provides HR guidance.
• Provides performance development initiatives such as coaching, career development, and succession planning.
• Collaborates with leadership, management, HR, and employees to improve work relationships, morale, productivity and retention.
• Serves as liaison to union representatives; assists with unemployment claims; participates in labor management meetings and contract negotiations.
• Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day leadership of employees; partners with legal when needed.
