Job summary

Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN seeks an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to collaborate with university leaders across assigned areas. You will guide employee relations, investigations, performance management, leave administration, and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or related field.
• Five years of HR experience in employee relations and investigations.
• Experience with labor relations or represented employees.
• Knowledge of federal, Minnesota, and local employment laws and leave requirements (FMLA, Minnesota Paid Leave, MN Earned Sick and Safe Time).
• Strong investigation, problem-solving, communication, and judgment skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted HR advisor to leaders and managers across assigned university areas.
• Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and organizational change.
• Conduct and support workplace investigations with fairness, consistency, documentation, and sound judgment.
• Support labor relations matters, including collective bargaining agreement interpretation, grievances, and represented employee issues.
• Advise on compensation, job classification, organizational structure, and internal equity.
• Provide guidance on employment law, HR policy, employee leaves, accommodations, and compliance.
• Coach managers through complex employee matters and workforce decisions.
• Support workforce planning, recruitment, and position development.
• Use Workday, HR data, and technology to improve HR processes and service delivery.
