Job summary

Swanson Industries, Inc. in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead the HR department and manage the full range of HR duties, including policy development, employee relations, recruitment, and compliance with federal, state and local laws.

The role supervises HR staff and coordinates training programs for employees and leaders. The position emphasizes HRIS oversight, job description reviews, and adherence to safety and labor regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
• Five years of experience in human resources.
• Prior experience as an HR Manager preferred.
• Background supporting HR operations within a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proven track record with unionized personnel preferred.
• ADP Workforce Now experience preferred.
• Performs work under minimal supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Manages the Human Resources Department’s staff by providing ongoing development opportunities and learning.
• Manages and/or administers all HR functions, operations and processes as assigned by Director.
• Serves as the first point of escalation on employee relations questions and issues with guidance to managers and employees.
• Conduct initial investigations into employee complaints and recommend resolutions.
• Assist with review and creation of HR handbook, training manuals and presentations.
• Supervises and manages HR Coordinator and duties.
• Manages recruitment process including recruitment ads, reviewing resumes and screening applicants.
• Oversees scheduling interviews and round-table follow-up meetings with interview panels.
• Oversees personnel actions for new hires, changes, transfers, merit increases and terminations.
• Ensures HRIS system and personnel files stay compliant and up to date.
• Assists with review/revision of written job descriptions and evaluates jobs for changes.
• Develops, implements, and administers policies assuring compliance with labor laws.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Supports professional growth through educational programs, literature, meetings, and workshops.
• Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
