American Heritage Railways is seeking a Human Resources Manager in Bryson City, NC to lead HR operations for GSMR. The role partners with operations leadership to recruit, engage, and develop a seasonal and year-round workforce, while ensuring compliance and workforce planning across locations.

The position handles onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and HRIS (Paycom). It also supports compensation, benefits communication, and safety initiatives within a dynamic railroad

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR Administration or related field or 5+ years of experience.
• 3+ years in HR management.
• PHR/SHRM-CP/SCP preferred.
• Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinker with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle recruitment for seasonal and year-round roles.
• Develop staffing plans aligned with operating and event schedules.
• Assist with job descriptions and revisions for accuracy and appeal.
• Oversee onboarding/offboarding and orientation programs.
• Maintain employee records through HRIS Paycom.
• Promote employee engagement and retention.
• Provide guidance on performance management and action plans.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws across jurisdictions.
• Support safety initiatives and workers' compensation processes.
• Assist with compensation reviews and benefits administration.

Education

Bachelor's degree in HR Administration or related field

PHR/SHRM-CP/SCP preferred
