Job summary

Community Health Partnership of Illinois (CHP) seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead core HR functions and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace in Chicago.

You will partner with leaders to strengthen employee experience, oversee recruitment and onboarding, manage compensation and benefits, and ensure consistent HR practices across the organization. The role requires strong compliance know-how and people leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• SHRM certified.
• Several years of progressive experience in human resources, including leadership/management responsibility (5+ preferred).
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Experience handling employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
• Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with employees and leadership.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with HR systems, reporting tools, and standard business software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs aligned with organizational goals.
• Supervise one HR Specialist.
• Oversee employee relations, performance management, and workplace communication.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning efforts.
• Manage compensation, benefits administration, and related inquiries.
• Collaborate with outsourced HR firm on HR matters.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
• Lead investigations and resolve employee concerns professionally.
• Coach managers to develop talent and improve team effectiveness.
• Maintain HR records and reporting; support training and development.
