Job summary

Collaborative for Children is seeking an HR Director to develop strategic HR initiatives and work hands-on across the full employee lifecycle for a dispersed team in the Houston area.

The role blends executive planning with practical HR execution, requiring comfort in a predominantly remote environment and occasional local travel. A strong focus on culture, compliance, and employee engagement is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, HR or business preferred.
• Current SPHR or PHR, SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR generalist experience, with 2 years in a lean 1–2 person HR team.
• Recent leadership experience at HR Manager or Director level.
• Experience managing full employee lifecycle from recruitment to separation.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Develop HR strategy and coach managers on employee relations.
• Own candidate experience and drive onboarding, benefits, and offers.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Lead talent development and performance management for ~37 employees.
