Job summary

ContinuServe is seeking a Director of Human Resources for our Not-for-Profit HR Services Team in the Chicago area. This hybrid leadership role focuses on guiding HR strategy and operations for mission-driven client organizations across education, social services, and community nonprofits.

You’ll work closely with client leadership, provide strategic counsel, and manage a portfolio of engagements. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years in HR, strong executive presence, proven experience with

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership or executive-level responsibilities.
• Strong executive presence and leadership skills; ability to advise on strategic business and people decisions.
• Ability to lead client meetings independently and travel regularly to client locations.
• Experience in fast-paced, multi-client environments with competing demands.
• Experience working in unionized environments, including labor relations and CBAs.
• Proven ability to build trusted client relationships across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Talent Leadership: inform strategy, navigate complex workforce matters, support executive decision-making.
• Client-Facing HR Management: lead HR for client organizations remotely and onsite, guide on HR issues and onboarding.
• Compliance & Best Practices: ensure regulatory compliance and deliver HR training and leadership development.
• People Operations and Systems: oversee HR operations across multiple clients, lead HRIS integrations, and optimize workflows.
• Team Supervision: manage HR team members and foster collaboration across touchpoints.
• Accountability and Results: own client team performance, ensure high-quality service and timely delivery.
