Job summary

VT ARC is seeking a strategic HR leader to partner with executives and guide workforce strategy in a mission-driven applied research setting. You will shape policies, oversee payroll and records, and ensure compliance across federal, state and local requirements.

The role leads a small HR team, supports performance and retention, and collaborates with senior leaders to scale the organization while maintaining responsive service to employees and managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or related field.
• Progressive HR leadership experience spanning strategic planning and day-to-day employee relations, compliance and administration.
• Ability to design and mature HR policies, processes and systems with reliable execution.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
• Strong interpersonal communication, coaching and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practical HR strategies, policies and programs to support growth and mission delivery.
• Provide hands-on HR partnership to employees and managers, addressing relations matters and policy interpretation.
• Advise leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, performance management and change management.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, retention and succession efforts and coordinate new hire integration.
• Oversee HR compliance, payroll, records, reporting, benefits coordination and routine administration.
• Strengthen HR infrastructure, analytics and documentation to support daily operations.
