Job summary

The University of Kansas is hiring an HR Communications Coordinator to design and execute an internal communications strategy for HR programs across Lawrence and KU Medical Center. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field and 1 year of experience OR Associate's degree and 3 years of experience OR HS diploma and 5 years of experience in internal communications.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, employee-friendly language.
• Experience managing web or intranet content.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience managing multiple priorities under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and maintain an HR communications calendar for timely messaging across HR programs and initiatives.
• Partner with HR leadership to plan and deliver strategic communications for policy changes and organizational initiatives.
• Create clear written, visual, and verbal communications for diverse employee audiences.
• Manage distribution of HR messages across channels (email, newsletters, websites, intranet, presentations).
• Oversee HR newsletters and content placement on campus platforms.
• Liaise with Office of Public Affairs and campus leaders to ensure alignment and consistency.
• Maintain HR web and intranet content ensuring accuracy and ADA accessibility compliance.
• Apply plain language and inclusive communication principles to improve understanding.
• Track communication effectiveness and adjust strategies.
