Job summary

The University of Kansas is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support the School of Business communications strategy. The role develops content for print, digital, and social channels and guides messaging that highlights programs, faculty research, student success, and alumni engagement.

You will supervise student staff, coordinate events marketing, and assist with media relations and storytelling to strengthen visibility and reputation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, strategic communication, English, marketing, public relations or related field and 2 years of professional experience in strategic writing, marketing communications, content development, or related professional experience OR High School Diploma/GED equivalency and 6 years of professional experience in strategic writing, marketing communications, content development, or related professional experience.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite as demonstrated on application materials
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style based on application materials

Responsibilities

  • Plans, writes, and edits content that promotes School of Business programs, initiatives, events and priorities across print and digital channels
  • Leads social media content development and messaging to highlight School of Business news, stories, and events
  • Regularly writes stories highlighting student, faculty, staff and alumni accomplishments to elevate visibility
  • Manages marketing and communications projects, including print materials, digital campaigns and content initiatives
  • Assists in content management and optimization of the School of Business website and other web properties
  • Assists in creating communication plans that support strategic priorities
  • Monitors and analyzes digital communication performance metrics and provides recommendations
  • Writes and edits news and feature stories
  • Works with communications director and school leadership to develop publications
  • Supports other content marketing and communications needs as assigned
