Job summary

The City of Tucson's Housing and Community Development Department is seeking a Planning Administrator to lead strategic planning, homeless response system planning, and HUD Continuum of Care initiatives, while guiding community engagement and media relations.

You will supervise the Planning Division staff, coordinate with internal and external partners, prepare reports and plan documents, and present outcomes to the Mayor and City Council, ensuring equitable, data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience.
• Equivalency may substitute education and experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Leads strategic planning and policy development for the HCD department.
• Oversees planning tools, reports, and publication creation.
• Directs community outreach and engagement with diverse groups.
• Manages staffing, supervision, and hiring processes.
• Guides HUD Continuum of Care administration and grant reporting.
• Presents program goals and outcomes to Mayor and City Council.
• Coordinates cross-departmental initiatives like Thrive Zones.
