Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Chief Strategy Officer to lead strategic planning, business development, and population health across its Iowa network. The role reports to the CEO and works within a highly matrixed MercyOne and Trinity Health system to align mission, strategy, and performance.

The CSO will oversee limited staff while coordinating system resources to drive growth, optimize care delivery, and advance value-based programs across clinics, hospitals, and partner organizations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in strategy or executive leadership within healthcare.
• Experience leading multi-site systems and complex organizations.
• Strong collaboration with CEO, board and senior leadership.
• Proven track record in population health initiatives and value-based care.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning aligned with MercyOne and Trinity Health strategy.
• Oversee business development, market growth and new ventures.
• Develop and deploy value-based care initiatives across regions.
• Report to the CEO and participate in board meetings on progress.
