Job summary

City of Raleigh is seeking a Health, Safety, and Worker’s Compensation Manager to lead the division and drive enterprise safety initiatives across the organization. You will shape strategy, enhance incident prevention, and build new programs while guiding a team of safety professionals.

You will ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and workers’ compensation requirements, analyze claims trends, and partner with departments to create safer workplaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7–9 years of supervisory level experience in project management, compensation, HR compliance, or related areas.
• Equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted.
• Experience with OSHA, DOT, workers’ compensation requirements and regulatory standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the safety team with clear expectations and accountability.
• Oversee workers' compensation and claims administration; analyze data and implement cost-reduction strategies.
• Lead enterprise-wide health and safety compliance efforts; review policies, conduct audits, and address gaps with regulatory agencies.
• Plan and administer large health and safety programs; develop targets, evaluate results, and coordinate improvements.
• Analyze enterprise health and safety issues to develop strategies and programs.
• Lead safety education and training, including OSHA 10/30, CPR/First Aid, and CDL ELDT as needed.
• Manage monthly/annual reporting (OSHA 300/300A, NC BLS) and Safety Incident Management System.
• Develop health and safety strategies to reduce hazards and coordinate safety committee activities.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in related field
